Mari breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Vinnie come to,
though she did not move to help the others. She knew she should
not have tried to look into his mind. She knew that if he had
died he would have trapped her mind in his and would have killed
her as well. All it left her was weak and confused, though
Junior, for all his boasting, apparently fared more the worse for
wear than Vinnie.

Rimfire did not leave her side, instead he drew his laser,
though all of the Plutarkians handy had succumbed to the spell as
well and, after his initial check, were quite dead. Yet he would
not let his guard down. Not yet at least.
